Step-by-Step Guide
Follow these steps in order. Takes about 5–10 minutes from start to finish.
Step 1: Connect the Hue Bridge to your router using the included Ethernet cable. Plug in the power adapter. Wait for the three LEDs to turn solid blue (about 30 seconds).
Step 2: Download the Philips Hue app on iOS or Android. Tap "Set up" → "Bridge found" → press the button on the Bridge when prompted.
Step 3: Screw in your Hue bulbs and turn on the wall switches. In the app tap "Search for lights" — bulbs are found automatically via Zigbee.
Step 4: Assign each bulb to a room in the app. Tap the bulb → Edit → assign to "Living Room", "Bedroom" etc. This enables room-level control.
Step 5: Enable the Alexa or Google Home skill for Hue. In the Alexa app: Skills → search "Philips Hue" → Enable → sign in → discover devices.
Step 6: For remote control away from home: create a Philips Hue account in the app. This lets you control lights via the app when not on your home WiFi.
