Step-by-Step Guide
Follow these steps in order. Takes about 5–10 minutes from start to finish.
Step 1: Open the Alexa app → tap More (bottom right) → Routines → tap the + button in the top right corner.
Step 2: Tap "When this happens" → choose your trigger: Schedule, Voice, Smart Home, Sunrise/Sunset, Location, or Alarm.
Step 3: For a schedule routine: select the days and time. For a voice routine: type the phrase you'll say (e.g., "Good morning").
Step 4: Tap "Add action" → choose what Alexa should do: Smart Home (control devices), Alexa Says (announcements), Music, News, or Wait (add delays between actions).
Step 5: Add multiple actions in sequence. Use "Wait" between them to create delays (e.g., turn lights on, wait 1 minute, read the news).
Step 6: Tap Save. Test immediately by triggering the routine. If actions fail, check each device is online in the Alexa app Devices section.
